Assignment #5

eFax is a purely web hybrid company that makes its money by providing people with access to faxing and emailing through the internet. eFax costs only $16.95 (USD) per month*. Your activation fee is waived. Receiving faxes with a local eFax number is free, subject to the Customer Agreement. eFax charges $0.20 (USD) per page* for faxes received at toll-free eFax numbers. Faxes sent anywhere in the US cost $0.10 (USD) per page. This is how eFax makes its revenue; it signs customers up on an account and then charges them a flat rate and other charges mentioned above. The pros of this business are it provides the customer access to their email and fax wherever they have access to the internet. It also may be cost saving for some customers, and it saves on paper and toner. The cons could be that you don’t have an actual document for your record. It’s all on a computer and you run the risk of losing it or even maybe someone else seeing it that shouldn’t.

Nissan is a company that has a web business plus an actual brick and mortar business. This company makes its revenue by selling vehicles. They sell them at their actual business and off of their web business. The pros of having this business is you can reach a bigger span of customers by giving internet access to your store and product. Having the internet allows costumers to see your products anywhere they may be. Some cons may be that you don’t have one on one interaction with the customer, and the customer is not able to see the actual product. Having the actual business allows a one on one interaction with a customer and allows customers without access to the internet a way to view and get information on a product. Some cons could be that you have more bills to pay to keep the business running so it cost more to run the business. You could also run the risk of having to deal personally with problem customers, and you have to deal with employees that with a web business you would not have to deal with. I personally think having both types of businesses is the best choice.
